We have started developing a multi-disciplinary concept design, including thermal modernisation and interior design, for the new head office of a maritime logistics company. The investment is located in the very centre of Szczecin near the Jasne Błonia Park in an existing building of a former school and printing house designed in the mid-1990s.
The biggest challenge for the current design work is to adapt the building to the client’s individual needs and to new regulations, particularly those pertaining to thermal insulation.
As the building is expected to use renewable energy sources (RES), the common goal of the investor and designer is to apply environmentally-friendly installation solutions. These include heat pumps with ground exchangers, photovoltaic systems, ventilation with recuperation combined with heating and cooling of the building based on fan coil units and wall radiators. The solutions also include the possibility of remote operation based on the Building Management System.
An additional design challenge is to introduce the installation upgrade without interfering into the existing beautiful architectural structure.
